Excellent tips!

On point # 1 - We bought those plastic diverters that send the air across the floor instead of having it go straight up. They work great!

Those little electrical plug inserts you can buy plugged into unused outlets also make a MAJOR difference in outlets that are on outside walls. No more air getting in.

One thing that always bothers me is people that leave every light in their house on. Our rule is, if there isn't anybody in the room then it's lights out.

This has been my problem for a long time now. I just can't control my electric bill. It's getting to the point where I'm paying more than I can afford. I am using energy saving light bulbs.
But this article makes sense. I always forget to clean my lint trap. I think using the microwave for defrosting doesn't save much energy though. It would be best to just defrost it naturally.

Thanks,

I wouldn't have thought that the microwave would save energy more than an oven; but then again, I'm not much of a cook. I never run my dishwasher unless it's full, and have thought about turning off the heat-dry. It can leave streaks, but does it save money?
