It’s a nobrainer. Help the environment and help yourself at the same time. Sometimes the sum of many things done differently can save on energy bills. Just a few tips on small things that you can do. Saving money and energy doesn’t have to cost you anything. Just change some habits.

I would like to give you a few tips to try. You WILL see a savings!

First would be that hot water heater. Turn the temperature down. You do not need to keep it full of scalding hot water 24 hours a day. You can play with it to see what works best for you, but I would try 120 degrees. This will probably take you every bit of 2 minutes and then you have nothing else to do but save money!

This is too easy. Just turn things off when you are not using them. Electronics and lights especially. An advanced strategy would be to UNPLUG everything that you are not using. Most electronics still use energy even when they are turned off. If you have some extra surge protectors laying around, you could plug some electronics into them and then just turn the strip off each time.

One more. Keep the filters clean in your heating and air systems. Some have to be changed, but most can be cleaned. And some of the disposable filters can be replaced with reusable filters. Systems are different, so you will have to figure out where your filters are.
